N\u00e6r\u00f8yfjorden, also known as The Narrow Fjord, is an absolutely breathtaking wonder in western Norway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rimstigen is a truly magical and enchanting ancient trail, once used by the hardworking farmers of the fjords to reach their beloved mountain pastures in the summertime. This awe-inspiring path is short, but every step you take brings you from one wonder to another. From the very bottom of the fjord, at sea level, you\u2019ll embark on an exhilarating journey up a steep forested mountain side that will take your breath away. As you climb higher and higher, you\u2019ll be rewarded with the most stunning views of a Garden-of-Eden-like hanging valley called Rimstigbotnen, which sits majestically at over 700m above sea level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the hike is short in kilometres it is pretty steep, making it a true test of endurance and willpower. Breiskrednosi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Breiskrednosi hike is undoubtedly the most technically challenging, physically demanding, and visually stunning hike on this list. Once you reach the top of the trail, you\u2019ll be rewarded with what is likely the most spectacular views overlooking the fjords in all of Norway. This epic trek begins with the aforementioned Rimstigen trail and continues all the way up to the steepest and wildest mountain peak overlooking the N\u00e6r\u00f8yfjorden, towering 1189 meters above the fjord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stalheim – N\u00e5li<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This beautiful and more gentle hike takes you deeper into the wild fjord nature of N\u00e6r\u00f8ydalen. Grab the opportunity to learn more about the local natural and cultural history, while enjoying breathtaking views of powerful waterfalls pulsating among the glacier shaped peaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This route follows a well-maintained path from Stalheim Hotell, past the authentic Sivle farm to the old cotter’s farm called N\u00e5li. The path runs along natural shelf formations high above N\u00e6r\u00f8ydalen, among dramatic cliffs and unique cultural landscape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The remains of the cotter’s farm N\u00e5li are located in a partially overgrown yard, on a large shelf formation in the mountainside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hike returns to Stalheim Hotel following the same trail. This is an easy hike that is suitable for most people, including families with children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Royal Post Road (Styvi –<\/strong> Bleiklindi)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Interested in a gentle historical hike without much traffic? Join us for boat & hike adventure to the Royal Post Road nestled in the heart of N\u00e6r\u00f8yfjorden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in the days the main postal route between Bergen and Oslo went through L\u00e6rdal and Gudvangen by boat. However, from fall until late spring the innermost part of N\u00e6r\u00f8yfjorden would often be frozen over. <\/p>\n\n\n

They therefore had to dock at Styvi and carry the mail by foot to Bleiklindi. From Bleiklindi they walked across the icy fiord to Bakka, where there was a cart road leading further into the fjord towards Gudvangen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is an idyllic hike in summer where you will be surrounded with lush forest and grazing farm animals. Throughout the trail you will have dramatic cliffs hanging above you, and you will experience breathtaking views of the fiord surrounded by waterfalls and spectacular mountains, as the hike follows the shoreline where possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The royal post road<\/strong><\/strong> trip details<\/strong>: Total distance: 5.3 kilometers. Estimated total duration: 3- 4 hours. Elevation gain: 190 meters. Trip grading: Moderate \u2013 blue. Uneven trail with some loose rocks and exposed roots. Suitable for families: Yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the key strengts of this trips are that it is remote. You have to reach the hike with a boat, hence this will guarantee that you are out of the crowd and out of the beaten bath. The other major advantage of this trip is that you are hiking in the N\u00e6r\u00f8yfjord, while hiking mostly flat. Most of the hikes around the N\u00e6r\u00f8yfjord are very steep and can be hard on the body of non seasoned hikers. In this hike you get to experience the heart of the N\u00e6r\u00f8yfjord on a non strenous day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N\u00e6r\u00f8yfjorden Haute Route <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Go off the beaten path and explore some of the best kept secrets of N\u00e6r\u00f8yfjorden with our hike and boat (all inclusive) multi-day adventures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not many people know about this hidden paradise as the most of the terrain can only be reached by boat. Along the way we also use ATVs, and spend the night in a newly restored historic mountain farm nestled between the peaks above the fjord. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The remoteness of the location makes for a peaceful experience. No sound from civilization, besides perhaps some hunters that have been visiting the valleys around Hj\u00f8lmo since the Iron Age due to the abundant wild life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A part of the experience is also to take a dip in the lake, river or fjord after our big day out. The brave ones may be rewarded with some mindfulness while drying in the sun or by the fireplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
